Life has a funny way of throwing us curveballs. Last week, I planned a day that was going to be both relaxing and productive. I had it all figured out and I was excited – early gym session, grab a coffee, some reading and some work I needed to do, however, this wasn’t the case at all. Instead, I woke up with a bad headache, feeling run down and low. My mood from the night before was completely different from my mood that morning.
I could have spent the day frustrated with myself, upset that I didn’t achieve what I wanted to. Instead, I tried something else: I gave myself grace, permission to feel everything I was feeling, and I did so without judgment. I found a way to breathe through it, and it worked.
The lesson here is to remember that, while plans matter, giving yourself flexibility matters more, and allowing yourself to experience every emotion is important. Growth isn’t just about achieving goals; it’s about how you respond when things don’t go as expected. Sometimes, the moments that seem difficult are the ones that teach you the most.
What’s a recent moment when you had to give yourself grace or pause before reacting?
